Riverside County, California, near Calimesa – Video filmed by X user FlapjackSandwich captures the early development of the rapidly intensifying Shore Fire as a massive column of dark smoke rises from brush-covered terrain southwest of Calimesa.

At the base of the fire, bright orange flames and glowing embers are visible as the wildfire spreads aggressively across the landscape.

The most striking feature is the low afternoon sun positioned near the horizon on the right side of the frame. Its intense golden-orange light dominates the scene, casting a dramatic glow across the sky and turning the smoke column into a backlit wall of texture and motion. The sunlight filters through the edges of the plume, producing lens flare, deep shadows, and a vivid contrast between smoke and remaining blue sky.

Dashcam footage shows vehicles traveling along the multi-lane highway, along with power lines, billboards, and distant structures partially obscured by thick smoke. A highway sign for Highland Springs Avenue appears as the vehicle continues forward, while the sun’s glare reflects off surfaces and intensifies the fiery visual effect across the roadway.

Official CAL FIRE reports document the Shore Fire as first reported on June 15, 2026, at 3:23 p.m. near San Timoteo Canyon Road and Lake Shore Drive. The fire expanded rapidly to more than 2,000 acres, reaching approximately 2,600 acres, triggering evacuation orders and warnings for nearby areas.

Firefighters responded with ground crews and helicopters, achieving partial containment. No injuries or structure losses were reported in the initial response, and the cause remains under investigation.
