Hillsborough County, United States – A fire broke out at an apartment complex on Swordfish Drive at around 1:30 a.m. on April 8, 2026, prompting evacuations after reports of explosions.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said its 911 Dispatch Center received multiple emergency calls describing explosions at the location.

When deputies arrived, they found a maintenance building fully engulfed in flames. Residents were quickly evacuated as Hillsborough County Fire Rescue worked to bring the fire under control.

No injuries were reported during the incident.

Sheriff Chad Chronister praised the response, saying, “The quick coordination between our deputies and Hillsborough County Fire Rescue made all the difference in keeping residents safe during a dangerous situation. When seconds matter, this level of teamwork shows how we respond as a unified front to protect lives in our community.”
