Naples, Italy – Firefighters have been working in Scampia since 11 p.m. on May 19, 2026, after a partial structural collapse struck the “Vela Rossa” building, which was uninhabited and already undergoing demolition.
Specialized USAR (Urban Search and Rescue) teams and canine units were immediately deployed to inspect the rubble and search for possible missing people.
After completing the search operations, rescuers confirmed that no one was involved in the collapse.
For safety reasons, several nearby apartments were evacuated, forcing 47 families to leave their homes.
Emergency crews remain at the scene using excavators to secure the affected area.
