Monterey County, California – The Timber Fire was mapped at 1,330 acres by sensor aircraft at 11:20 as an air tanker worked to slow the wildfire.

The video shows the aircraft flying across rolling, tree-covered hills beneath a heavy pink-orange smoke sky before releasing a long, bright red trail of fire retardant over a burning slope.

A second view shows dry, golden hills beneath a large column of dark brown smoke as another air tanker drops a continuous stream of bright red retardant directly into the smoke plume.

CAL FIRE Incident Management Team 1 was scheduled to in-brief that afternoon to prepare to assume command of the Timber Fire.

Residents in and near evacuation zones were encouraged to remain vigilant, stay informed and follow all evacuation orders and warnings.
