Air And Ground Assault Stops California Brush Fire In Steep Terrain Near Piru

Piru, California – Ventura County Fire Department crews, alongside Los Angeles County Fire and CAL FIRE, responded to a brush fire burning south of the 126 Freeway and east of Piru.

Fire officials said forward progress of the blaze was stopped at 30 acres.

The fire was burning in medium fuels in steep terrain with difficult access, prompting an aggressive response from crews on the ground and in the air.

Multiple fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters were assigned to the incident along with more than 100 firefighters working to contain the fire.

Evacuation warnings were issued for areas east of Lake Piru to the Los Angeles County line.
