Carrollton, Alabama – Police officers and sheriff’s deputies were called to help capture a 1,500-pound bull after it was spotted wandering near Pickens Academy.

Pickens County Sheriff’s deputies responded alongside Carrollton Police Department officers as the longhorn escaped into the area.

The bull led its pursuers across Highway 17 before returning to the neighborhood where it was first spotted.

Video shows responders on horseback attempting to lasso the animal during the unusual pursuit.

Officials said the “oversized escape artist was safely rounded up without injury.”

The sheriff’s office also joked that the responders were “probably better off patrolling the county than trying to make a living on the rodeo circuit,” adding that they would put their “cowboy hats and boots” back on the wall until the next bull decided to go sightseeing.
