Monte San Pietro, Italy – A large wildfire broke out on July 18 in a wooded area of Calderino, located in the hills of Monte San Pietro near Bologna.
Two helicopters from the fire brigade and a Canadair aircraft carried out multiple water drops to fight the advancing flames.
On the ground, eight teams from the National Fire Corps responded, with personnel arriving from Bologna, Ravenna, and Modena.
The coordinated effort between aerial and ground units successfully contained the fire and prevented damage to homes and infrastructure.
Around 100 people were evacuated on July 18 as a precaution.
Firefighters are now working to secure and monitor the burned areas to prevent any flare-ups.
