Troopers Risk Their Lives To Stop Wrong-Way DUI Driver Racing 90 Mph

Miller County, MO – The Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) brought a terrifying high-speed chase to a safe end when a driver barreled the wrong way on a divided highway at 90 mph.

Troopers used Tactical Vehicle Intervention (TVI), also known as the PIT maneuver, a precise and training-intensive tactic, to force the fleeing vehicle to spin out safely, risking their own lives to protect others.

The driver, traveling without lights at extreme speed, was stopped in a split second. The maneuver prevented a potential deadly crash and safeguarded other motorists.

The driver suffered minor injuries and faces charges including Felony Fleeing under Valentine’s Law, Felony DWI, and additional offenses.
