Davidson County, Tennessee – A Tennessee Highway Patrol trooper narrowly avoided serious injury last week during a high-speed crash on Interstate 40.
The incident began when the trooper pulled over a vehicle traveling 97 mph in a 70 mph zone. Snow-covered shoulders made conditions especially hazardous.
Seconds after the stop, another car struck the trooper’s cruiser, nearly pinning him between the guardrail and the stopped vehicle. Against the odds, the trooper walked away unharmed.
“This could have ended very differently,” the Highway Patrol emphasized, underscoring the dangers officers face every day, especially in winter weather.
Authorities reminded drivers to slow down and move over when emergency lights are present. The crash remains under investigation.
