Kamchatka, Russia – Kamchatka rescuers evacuated a surviving tourist after an incident on the slopes of Vilyuchinsky volcano.
Officials said the woman was not injured during the hike, but the descent required negotiating a steep, icy slope. Another female climber slipped from the slope and died of her injuries during the descent. A man also died from his injuries.
More than 40 specialists took part in the search and rescue, supported by volunteers and medics. The overnight operation continued through the night as teams worked to reach the stranded hiker.
