Athens, Ohio – Recently released video shows a trooper from the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Athens Post struck head-on by a wrong-way driver in a serious collision.

The impact occurred when the wrong-way vehicle crashed directly into the trooper’s cruiser. The dramatic moment was captured on patrol video.

As first responders worked the crash site, a second reported impaired driver nearly struck emergency personnel. Crews had to react quickly to avoid another collision.

Moments later, a third reported impaired driver entered the crash area, also traveling the wrong way. Two wrong-way vehicles and one near miss all occurred within minutes.

Officials said the sequence illustrates the severe danger of impaired and reckless driving. With the holiday season approaching, they stressed the importance of staying alert and sober behind the wheel.
