Thurston County – Earlier tonight, Thurston County SWAT moved in to apprehend a double murder suspect from Pierce County who had been involved in a drive by shooting that killed two children. The suspect was believed to be armed with an automatic weapon.
Units attempted to box the suspect in, but he escaped and fled at a high rate of speed.
A TCSO SWAT operator deployed a Grappler in an effort to stop the vehicle, but the line snapped and the suspect continued to flee.
The deputy then executed a PIT maneuver at 117mph, stopping the pursuit instantly and causing the suspect’s vehicle to roll.
The suspect was ejected from the car and sustained only minor injuries. An AR15 with a 60 round magazine was thrown from the vehicle, and numerous additional firearms were observed inside. The patrol vehicle suffered no damage from the PIT.
Officials commended all agencies involved for their work in removing a dangerous criminal from the community.
