Cincinnati, Ohio – Last Friday, a suspect fleeing from probation officers narrowly missed striking a uniformed officer with his vehicle before abandoning it and fleeing on foot.

The suspect then took a drastic step, entering the Ohio River in a bid to escape.

Thanks to quick coordination and drone technology, the suspect was tracked swimming in the river. The drone team kept visual contact, guiding Marine Rescue units directly to his location.

The suspect was taken into custody by Marine Rescue personnel without further incident.

The Cincinnati Police Department highlighted the successful use of drones in this operation, ensuring the safety of officers and the public. “Our Drones continue to be a valuable tool in ensuring public and officer safety,” the department said.
