Suspect Jumps From A Bridge Into River To Escape From Police

Bibb County, GA – Dashcam video captured the dramatic moment a suspect leapt from a bridge into the Ocmulgee River while trying to escape officers after a high-speed chase on Interstate 75.

According to officials, the incident began when Bibb County Cpl. Toni Lewis attempted a traffic stop on a suspect tied to a domestic disturbance at the Red Carpet Inn on Riverside Drive.

The suspect, driving a Lincoln, fled at high speed and led deputies onto I-75. After exiting the interstate, he abandoned the car and ran toward the river.

Dashcam footage shows the suspect jumping from the bridge into the Ocmulgee River. A thermal device later detected him climbing out of the water and running into nearby woods.

Despite a search by deputies, Bibb County officials said the suspect was not located in the wooded area.

Authorities are now working to secure warrants for the 32-year-old on charges including fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer for a felony offense, obstruction of officers, and reckless driving.

The suspect’s identity has not been released.
