Mayon Volcano – A rockfall occurred at 09:29 AM on 17 December 2025, after lava detached from the summit crater of Mayon Volcano, according to the Mayon Volcano Network’s seismic and visual monitors.
The event, caused by the “spalling” or breaking away of lava, sent rocks tumbling down the volcano’s slopes.
The debris traveled along Mi-isi Gully, located on the south-southeast side of the upper slope, visible to the left in camera footage. The rockfall came to rest within one kilometer of the volcano’s summit.
Authorities maintain Alert Level 1 over Mayon Volcano and strongly advise avoiding the Permanent Danger Zone to ensure safety.
