Candelaria, Tenerife, Canary Islands – A sudden and highly intense downpour transformed streets and a central plaza into a fast-moving flow of water within just a few minutes.
Heavy rain poured down rapidly as brown floodwater surged through roads, circling curbs, parked cars, and street fixtures. Pedestrians standing on sidewalks and balconies looked on in surprise as the scene unfolded.
The water level climbed quickly, forming strong currents and visible waves that splashed against buildings and vehicles beneath a dark, overcast sky.
The event took place on the afternoon of March 24, 2026, during a highly localized but powerful burst of rain in the Candelaria area. Residents reported that drainage systems were quickly overwhelmed, resulting in flash flooding in the town center.
No injuries were reported, but the sudden conditions led to warnings urging drivers and residents to exercise caution.
