Snow Plow Driver Rescues Lost Dogs During Blizzard In Babylon

Babylon, Long Island – During the height of a fierce blizzard, two dogs were rescued by a snow plow driver on Long Island.

Kenny McGowan, a Department of Public Works employee, spotted the dogs running along the westbound side of Sunrise Highway near Town Hall.

He followed them for about a mile in his plow and safely blocked traffic to protect the animals.

McGowan then called fellow DPW worker Jason Koza, who arrived with a leash and helped secure the dogs in his truck.

Officials said several other good Samaritans assisted, including a truck driver with a rope and a mother and daughter who wrapped the dogs in a blanket.

One of the dogs was found to have a microchip. Both were taken to an animal shelter, where staff successfully contacted their owners.
