Small Plane Crashes In French Town Killing Three As Onlookers Watch In Horror

Champhol, France – On June 27, a small plane crashed in a residential area of Champhol, leaving three people dead.

A video of the crash site was posted by X user aop720, showing the wreckage of the light aircraft. The user stated that several people were in intensive care, but official reports later confirmed that all three occupants were killed.

According to the Eure et Loir prefecture, the plane was a single-engine Cessna 172 operated by a local flying club. It went down shortly after 4 p.m., narrowly avoiding nearby homes but striking a wall and a parked vehicle.

The victims were identified as a 77-year-old former army general and a middle-aged couple. Authorities confirmed that the general was piloting the plane and had extensive flying experience.

Preliminary findings suggest the crash occurred due to a sharp turn made just three minutes after takeoff. That maneuver caused the aircraft to lose control.

Emergency teams quickly arrived at the scene and secured the area. Investigations are being carried out by the air transport gendarmerie and national police.
