Volusia County, FL – A man who spent two days concealed in a swamp after fleeing from Florida deputies in a stolen truck was found safe, according to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office.
Officials said 37-year-old Earl Dorey ran from deputies on Wednesday after being spotted behind the wheel of the stolen truck.
The vehicle struck stop sticks and was later discovered abandoned near DeLeon Springs State Park.
Dorey and two other individuals ran from the truck on foot, with Dorey disappearing into a nearby swamp. The other two were quickly captured.
Body camera video released by the sheriff’s office shows a deputy and a K-9 team pushing into the swamp to find Dorey.
Authorities said Dorey pointed a gun at deputies at one point and threatened to kill himself before moving deeper into the swamp.
He was not located until Friday. When found, officials said he only complained of being thirsty and having sore legs after his “extended stay” in the swamp.
Dorey, who already had warrants, now faces charges of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, fleeing from law enforcement, and possession of methamphetamine.
