Raleigh, North Carolina, USA – A two-alarm fire broke out on the night of December 1 at 2130 hours after dispatch received multiple reports of flames and smoke pouring from the roof of the Raleigh Convention Center.
Ladder 1, leaving its downtown firehouse, immediately reported a large header visible from the bay. Upon arrival, the crew set up for aerial operations as Engine 1 and Engine 13 reached the scene seconds later and launched the initial fire attack on the roof.
The blaze ran the full length of the roof and was determined by Engine 1’s initial investigation to be gas-fueled. Firefighters worked for roughly 40 minutes before bringing the incident under control. No injuries were reported.
The fire department commended the effort on scene, stating that the hard work and dedication of every member has not gone unnoticed, and that Local 548 is proud to serve the citizens of Raleigh.
