Red SUV Pursuit Ends In Dramatic Rollover By 17-Year-Old In Fayette County

Fayette County, Georgia – On Wednesday, January 21, 2026, a high-speed pursuit of a stolen vehicle ended in a dramatic rollover near Brooks Woolsey Road and the Highway 85 Connector.

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a stolen red SUV from Newnan. Lieutenant Akin and Deputy Sheriff Nelson spotted the vehicle around 2:45 p.m. and attempted a traffic stop, but the driver refused to comply.

The chase reached speeds exceeding 115 miles per hour, creating extremely dangerous conditions given the afternoon traffic and road conditions. Authorities were preparing to call off the pursuit when the SUV ultimately rolled over.

The driver, a 17-year-old juvenile also reported missing by the Newnan Police Department, was removed from the vehicle. Fortunately, the juvenile sustained no major injuries.

Dash camera footage of the incident has been released by the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office to provide transparency and detail about the pursuit.
