Plymouth, United Kingdom – On July 16, 2025, Her Majesty Queen Camilla was formally appointed Vice Admiral of the United Kingdom during a ceremony held aboard HMS Astute.

The honorary title was presented by Rear Admiral Andy Perks, Head of the Submarine Service, who also handed Queen Camilla a burgee, or pennant, as part of the formal proceedings.

The appointment recognizes Queen Camilla’s continued support and involvement with the Royal Navy.

The title of Vice Admiral, which originated in the mid-16th century, officially designates Queen Camilla as deputy to His Majesty The King, who serves as Lord High Admiral, the ceremonial head of the Royal Navy.
