Montreal, Canada – A supporter of Last Generation Canada smeared pink paint on Pablo Picasso’s L’Hétaire at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts today. The activist stayed at the scene after the act.
This action is part of a three-week protest phase by the group. It follows arrests for painting the Montreal casino pink, blocking Rue Saint-Denis, and defacing the BMO Museum. At the BMO action, 12 supporters were detained.
Last Generation Canada demands a Climate Disaster Protection Agency to aid those impacted by extreme weather, like wildfires worsened by fossil fuels. They urge the government to fund it with taxes on the ultra-rich.
The group’s actions aim to highlight the climate crisis. Their protests have disrupted Montreal, targeting high-profile sites to draw attention to their cause.
