Power Failure Paralyzes Eurotunnel As Vehicles Sit Trapped In Folkestone

Folkestone, UK – Video filmed by X user Mark shows a long, stationary queue of cars and lorries at the Eurotunnel, also known as Le Shuttle, terminal.

The footage reveals vehicles lined up as far as the eye can see, with a large truck prominent near the front. Wet roads and overcast skies suggest recent rainfall, adding to the grim scene.

No movement is visible among the vehicles, highlighting the severity of the disruption caused by a power outage in the Channel Tunnel.

On December 30, 2025, the outage forced the suspension of all passenger and vehicle trains through the tunnel. The interruption created significant delays, with car passengers waiting up to six hours.

Nearly all Eurostar passenger services between London and Europe were cancelled, compounding the chaos. Drivers remained trapped in long queues with little information, facing mounting frustration.

The incident not only disrupted travel plans but also underscored the operational challenges the Eurotunnel system faces during such critical failures.
