Ponderosa Fire Explodes Across Yuba County, Threatening Homes As Crews Battle To Contain Flames

Yuba County, USA – CAL FIRE crews are working to contain the Ponderosa Fire, which has burned 87 acres since it began in the Dobbins area north of Marysville Road and east of Willow Glen.

The blaze, first reported with an estimated size of 12 acres, quickly grew at a dangerous rate of spread. By 4:12 p.m., additional resources were requested as structures came under threat.

At 4:42 p.m., the fire had expanded to 48 acres along Ponderosa Way north of Sunset Road in Oregon House. By 6:55 p.m., it had reached 83 acres with zero containment. No injuries were reported, and there was no structural damage at that time. The cause remains under investigation.

Firefighters made significant progress overnight. By the next morning, forward progress was stopped at 87 acres, with containment rising to 20 percent. By 8:50 a.m., containment increased to 26 percent, and by 6 p.m., it reached 31 percent.

Resources continue to secure and improve fire lines while mopping up heavy interior fuels. Yuba County OES and the Sheriff’s Office have issued updated evacuation orders and warnings, available on their official websites.
