Pickup Truck Tows Skier Down Snow-Choked Ohio University Streets

Athens, Ohio, USA – Video filmed by X user Storm & Train Chaser Emerson Young, a 22-year-old Ohio University meteorology student, National Weather Service Cleveland weather spotter, and storm and rail chaser, shows a person skiing through streets near the Ohio University campus during heavy snowfall on January 25, 2026. The footage was recorded around 3:00 PM local time near University Terrace.

The short vertical clip captures an individual dressed in dark winter clothing being pulled by a grey pickup truck, described as a Ford F-150 or similar. The truck moves slowly along a snow-covered street or campus walkway with headlights on, partially buried in drifts, while the person holds onto the rear of the vehicle and rides behind it on cross-country skis or a snowboard.

As the truck advances through deep accumulation, the skier glides smoothly over several inches of fresh snow, carving turns, maintaining balance, and kicking up light powder sprays from the edges. Tire tracks appear behind the truck as the snow quickly fills back in.

The background shows snow-blanketed campus and residential streets, Ohio University buildings, bare trees weighed down by snow, street lamps, a green “UNIVERSITY TERRACE” sign, a stop sign, fire hydrants, railings, and groups of onlookers watching or filming from the sidewalk. Light snowfall continues under overcast gray skies.

A follow-up photo shared in the same thread shows Athens police nearby, with the poster stating, “Athens pd didn’t like that,” suggesting officers responded to the activity. No injuries or major issues are shown, and the footage documents a lighthearted moment during a significant snow event in southeastern Ohio.
