Florida, USA – A pelican entangled in fishing lures was rescued by the Lee County Sheriff’s Marine Unit during weekend patrols.

According to authorities, the bird was found with lures caught in both legs. Deputies moved swiftly to bring the bird aboard and remove the fishing gear from its limbs.

The marine patrol was already active in the area, ensuring boater safety and enforcing local laws, when they spotted the struggling pelican.

Officials stressed their commitment to animal safety, whether on land or water.
