Ankang, China – A pedestrian was seriously injured when the rear door of a heavy dump truck struck him, slamming him to the ground.

The accident occurred as the truck, driven by Ma, traveled east to west along Zhenzhu River Bridge Road. The rear tailgate was not properly closed, causing the collision with pedestrian Guo. Guo sustained injuries from the impact.

Investigators determined that Ma’s failure to operate the vehicle safely and follow proper driving procedures was the sole cause of the accident. Ma has been held fully responsible.

Traffic authorities reminded drivers: “Do not drive a motor vehicle with doors or cargo compartments improperly closed.”
