Parachute Caught In Power Lines Leaves Skydiver Hanging Over Roadway In Daring Rescue

Tracy, California – A skydiver’s weekend jump turned into a dramatic rescue after their parachute got tangled in power lines above a roadway on July 19. The South San Joaquin County Fire Authority shared video footage of the intense operation.

At around 5 p.m., firefighters responded to the scene at Kasson and West Lorenzen roads, where the skydiver was trapped suspended above the road. To ensure a safe rescue, they coordinated with Pacific Gas & Electric Company, which temporarily shut off power.

After a tense wait, the skydiver was safely brought back to the ground just after 6:30 p.m. with only minor injuries, according to the fire authority.

The entire rescue was captured by the fire authority’s drone team, showing the skill and coordination of the emergency teams involved.

Meanwhile, between 500 and 600 PG&E customers experienced a temporary power outage due to the operation.
