Officers Save 9-Year-Old After Shooting In Atlanta Home

Atlanta, Georgia – A 9-year-old boy is alive thanks to the quick actions of Zone 3 officers after he was shot in the abdomen early on February 8, 2026.

Police responded to a home on 160 Ruzelle Street at approximately 6:40 a.m. Upon arrival, they found the boy alert and breathing but bleeding heavily from a severe abdominal wound. He began slipping in and out of consciousness.

Officers immediately applied a chest seal to control the bleeding and determined they could not wait for an ambulance. They transported the child themselves to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he received emergency treatment. Hospital staff credited the officers’ rapid response with saving his life.

Preliminary investigation indicates that three male suspects fired multiple rounds into the home, striking the child while he slept. Authorities are actively searching for the suspects as the investigation continues.
