Officers Catch Child And Dog Jumping From Burning Apartment

Milpitas, CA – Last Saturday at about 3:13 p.m., emergency responders received a frantic call from residents trapped on a second-story patio of a burning apartment near the 550 block of S. Park Victoria Drive. Flames were rapidly consuming the building, and the family urgently requested help.

Dispatchers quickly coordinated a response, and within two minutes, Officer Barragan and Officer Hartley arrived on scene. The apartment was fully engulfed, smoke and flames pushing outward as the family awaited rescue.

With the fire intensifying, the parents were guided by officers to jump from the second-floor patio. The officers caught the family’s 3-year-old child and the family dog as they leapt to safety, ensuring both were unharmed.

Milpitas Fire personnel arrived shortly after and assisted the remaining residents off the patio, ensuring everyone was safely accounted for.

Authorities praised the calm and courage of the residents during the terrifying ordeal and commended the seamless teamwork between dispatchers, officers, and fire personnel. Thankfully, no one suffered serious injuries during the fire.
