Jacksonville, Florida – A French bulldog was saved after becoming stranded on a small island in the Ribault River, thanks to quick action from local officers and fishermen.
A couple of weeks ago, JSO District 6 Officers Moran and Duggar responded to a call about a dog in distress near Grand Street. They found the pup cold, wet, and unable to return to shore on its own.
The officers quickly enlisted the help of two nearby fishermen. Using their boat, the fishermen reached the island and safely brought the French bulldog back to land.
Officers Moran and Duggar then transported the dog to Animal Care & Protective Services. The dog did not have a microchip but was given a new name: Porky.
ACPS confirmed that Porky is now thriving with a loving new family. The rescue highlights the teamwork between officers, civilians, and animal services, turning a dangerous situation into a happy ending.
