Kenosha, Wisconsin – On February 27, 2026, at approximately 12:50 p.m., Officers Sawyer and Thorpe of the Kenosha Police Department responded to a report of a man trapped in water near 7th Avenue and Sheridan Road.
Officer Sawyer quickly retrieved his personal flotation device and water throw bag from his squad car and prepared for the rescue. Following safety procedures, he donned his flotation device before approaching the man in the icy water.
The male appeared calm as Officer Sawyer explained the throw-bag process. Using precision, Sawyer deployed the rope, allowing the man to securely grasp it. He was then carefully pulled from the freezing water while maintaining steady communication, ensuring the man could rest when needed.

They also commended the citizen who reported the incident, the Kenosha Fire Department for their prompt response, and the male for remaining calm during the operation.
