New York, USA – A violent carjacking on February 8, 2026, escalated into a fiery crash, leaving a woman trapped in a burning vehicle with a 1-year-old still inside a nearby stolen car.
District 4 Patrol officers responded to 103rd Street after a woman was forcibly carjacked while her child remained in the back seat. Officers quickly located the stolen vehicle just a few streets away.
During the attempted stop, the suspect crashed into another car, igniting a fire that trapped the driver inside. Officer Almin Residovic ran into the flames and pulled the woman free, her hair on fire, before providing emergency medical aid until additional help arrived.
Another officer rescued the 1-year-old unharmed from the stolen vehicle, while a 14-year-old escaped from the burning car before police arrived.
The suspect, 34-year-old Richard Younger, was arrested at the crash scene and faces multiple felony charges, including carjacking, leaving the scene without rendering aid, aggravated fleeing from law enforcement, and false imprisonment of a child under 13.
The rescued woman expressed deep gratitude for Officer Residovic’s actions and continues to recover from her injuries.
