New York City – Officer Nafees was released from the hospital surrounded by his loved ones and fellow officers, greeted with cheers and well wishes.

The NYPD announced that thanks to the relentless efforts of detectives and law enforcement partners, both suspects involved in last week’s Bronx attack have been apprehended.

Jessica S. Tisch, a city official, shared that Wayne Lucas was taken into custody in Virginia on the same day Officer Nafees was discharged.

The officer’s recovery and the arrests send a strong message from the NYPD.

“Come for one of us and you’ll have the full force of the NYPD coming for you,” the department said.
