New York City, USA – Police officers gathered in solemn unity on the night of July 28 for the dignified transfer of Police Officer Didarul Islam.

Colleagues stood shoulder to shoulder in tribute to the fallen officer.

Officer Islam was remembered not only as a law enforcer, but as a husband, a father, and a son.

His passing has left a deep wound in the city he served.

“He leaves behind a city in grief,” the NYPD stated.

The department also said, “Officer Islam died as he lived: a hero.”
