Pasco, Washington – A black Ford Mustang sparked a dangerous chase when it refused to stop for authorities, reportedly reaching speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour along Clearwater.
Deputy Murillo attempted a routine traffic stop for a violation of RCW 46.16A.210, as the vehicle had no license plates. The driver allegedly ignored the stop and drove recklessly, forcing the officer to end the pursuit immediately for public safety.
Minutes later, Kennewick Police spotted the Mustang still driving dangerously. Washington State Patrol, with assistance from Pasco Police, successfully spiked the vehicle’s tires near the CBC campus. The Mustang came to a stop, though an unknown passenger fled on foot.
Deputies confirmed the vehicle was the same one that initially evaded Deputy Murillo. The driver, identified as Isahiah Kosgei, had a confirmed felony warrant for allegedly eluding police in a prior incident and a suspended driver’s license.
Kosgei was booked into the Benton County Correctional Center on multiple charges, including an additional 72-hour hold for his actions in this incident. Authorities noted that this was not the first time Kosgei or the Mustang had attempted to evade police. The vehicle did have issued license plates but they were not displayed, and the driver showed no intent to stop when emergency equipment was activated.
The incident highlights the serious dangers posed by reckless driving and repeated attempts to evade law enforcement.
