Midnight Fireworks Turn Ho Chi Minh City Skyline Into A Sea Of Light For Lunar New Year

Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam – A sweeping fireworks spectacle erupted across the city at midnight on February 17, 2026, welcoming Lunar New Year’s Eve and the beginning of the Year of the Fire Horse with a brilliant explosion of color over the urban skyline.

The panoramic video, filmed from a high vantage point by X user Vicky Vu, begins with a glowing nighttime view of countless buildings stretching into the distance beneath a dark sky.

As the clock struck midnight, synchronized fireworks burst into the air, spreading vivid reds, golds, and greens across the city like a living canvas of celebration.

High-altitude shells expanded into massive sparkling spheres, while lower fountains surged upward in steady waves, their reflections shimmering on the Saigon River as smoke softened the scene in a glowing haze.

The display intensified with layers of purple, blue, and silver lighting up distant towers, transforming the skyline into a pulsing ocean of light as cheers rose from crowded gathering spots below.

The final moments left drifting trails of smoke and a radiant afterglow over the city, symbolizing renewal, prosperity, and the festive spirit of Tet.

The celebration featured 17 launch locations across the city, including four high-altitude combined shows and 13 low-level displays, all firing for 15 minutes from midnight. Large crowds filled areas such as Nguyen Hue Walking Street, Bach Dang Wharf Park, and the Saigon River Tunnel entrance, where countdowns and performances accompanied the fireworks. Authorities handled traffic and security as both residents and international visitors joined the celebration.
