Mayon Volcano Spews Lava And Pyroclastic Flows In Ongoing Eruption

Legazpi, Philippines – The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology reported ongoing activity at Mayon Volcano on March 7, 2026. Close-up footage captured minor strombolian eruptions at 12:09 PM and 12:22 PM.

The effusive eruption has continued for the 61st consecutive day, producing incandescent lava flows, pyroclastic density currents (PDC) known locally as “uson,” and frequent rockfalls.

Authorities maintain Alert Level 3 over Mayon. Entry into the 6-kilometer Permanent Danger Zone around the volcano remains strictly prohibited to ensure public safety.
