Zabaikalye, Russia – Aviation forces from the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations continue their efforts to battle wildfires across the Zabaikalye region.

Currently, 47 wildfires are active, burning over 485.7 thousand hectares of land. Among these, five fires have been localized, covering 115.4 thousand hectares.

On May 12, two Il-76 aircraft dropped 210 tons of water on fires located within a 10-kilometer zone of the villages of Podvolok, Tankha, and Irgen. Additionally, a Mi-8 helicopter dropped 35 tons of water on remaining fire sections near the settlement of Zabaykalets.

At this time, authorities report that there is no immediate threat to the surrounding communities.
