Massive Wildfire Ravages Martigues As 800 Firefighters And Aircraft Battle Relentless Flames

Martigues, France – A violent wildfire that began at 7:20 p.m. on July 17 continues to burn fiercely, with over 800 firefighters and reinforcements deployed to fight the blaze.

More than 80 ground vehicles have been mobilized alongside a fleet of aerial resources, including water-bombing helicopters, Canadairs, and Dash aircraft, to contain the advancing fire.

Authorities have issued strict safety instructions:
Residents must remain inside solid structures, keep roads clear, close shutters and openings, secure sensitive materials, and water building facades.

“Leave gates open for firefighters,” warned Pompiers13, emphasizing that “confinement is the rule, evacuation is the exception.”

Emergency crews urge the public not to interfere with ongoing operations, especially during aerial water drops.

Efforts on the ground and in the air continue intensely as emergency teams work to control the fast-moving fire as soon as possible.
