Massive Sea Turtle Rescued From Freezing Texas Waters

Texas, USA – Along the Texas coast, wildlife teams have been rushing to save sea turtles weakened by plunging temperatures.

Cold-stunned turtles slow down as their bodies chill, leaving them unable to swim and at risk of boat strikes or becoming stranded onshore.

Texas Game Wardens, TPWD staff, and partner organizations have been working tirelessly to rescue these vulnerable animals. Once found, the turtles are transported to rehabilitation centers where they recover before being released back into the wild.

One large sea turtle featured in the rescue effort is estimated to weigh between 80 and 100 pounds, highlighting the scale of the challenge facing rescuers.

The initiative underscores the dangers posed by sudden cold spells to wildlife along the Texas coast and the crucial role of rapid response teams in protecting endangered species.
