Niscemi, Sicily, Italy – Firefighters have been working for 48 hours to respond to a large landslide that affected multiple buildings in the Sante Croci neighborhood and Contrada Pirillo.

As a precaution, more than 1,000 residents were evacuated from their homes. Vehicular traffic on SP 10 and SP 12 has been restricted to ensure safety.

This morning, Drago 156, a helicopter from the Catania flight unit, conducted an aerial survey of the affected area to support ongoing operations.

Fire crews continue to monitor the landslide and assist in recovering belongings from the evacuated buildings, maintaining safety while assessing further risks.
