Daytona Beach, Florida – Police responded to a neighborhood in Daytona Beach after residents spotted an unusually large iguana roaming the area.

The Daytona Beach Police Department said officers “responded quickly” to the scene, where the “unexpected visitor” was seen wandering near a resident’s property.

A video shared by the department shows the massive lizard attempting to flee near an air conditioning unit. Officers managed to catch the iguana as it tried to squeeze through a fence.

“He’s a healthy boy,” one officer remarks in the video, highlighting the size and condition of the reptile.

Authorities believe the iguana may have been an escaped pet, given its large size and the fact that it was far from the species’ usual habitats in Florida.
