Massive Brush Fires Threaten Homes As Authorities Drop Thousands Of Gallons Of Water

Hillsborough County, FL – On February 15, 2026, Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office Aviation Unit, together with Hillsborough County Fire Rescue, Tampa Police Department, and Florida Forestry, responded to rapidly spreading brush fires along West State Road 60 and State Road 674.

Pilots dropped nearly 19,600 gallons of water on the flames, targeting areas where homes were at risk. Meanwhile, ground deputies evacuated residents and pets to safety, ensuring no injuries occurred.

The coordinated effort highlighted seamless teamwork between air and ground units, with authorities working tirelessly to protect the community from the fast-moving fires. Residents were safely moved from threatened areas as crews continued to contain the blazes.

Officials praised the collaboration of multiple agencies, emphasizing that swift action prevented potential destruction and safeguarded lives.
