Man With Captive Passenger Leads High-Speed Chase Before Arrest In Crockett

Crockett, Texas – Early Tuesday morning, Jeremy Alexander Brent, 37, of Crockett, led police on a high-speed chase after allegedly fleeing from a home in Latexo where he was trespassing and possibly holding a passenger against their will.

Shortly after midnight, Crockett Police Department officers responded to a call for assistance from the Houston County Sheriff’s Office near State Highway 7 East, just outside city limits. Deputies were already investigating Brent when the chase began.

Dashcam footage shows officers locating Brent near the 3000 block of SH 7 East. Brent refused to stop and sped away at over 100 mph toward Crockett. As the pursuit entered the city, officers deployed spikes to deflate his tires.

Brent continued briefly before stopping near SL 304 and SH 7 East. The passenger in the vehicle was unharmed.

Brent was taken into custody and charged with evading arrest, criminal trespass, unlawful restraint, and unauthorized use of a vehicle. He was booked into the Houston County Jail.
