Niscemi, Sicily, Italy – Firefighters have been battling the effects of a major landslide for 48 hours, which has impacted several buildings in the Sante Croci neighborhood and Contrada Pirillo.

Authorities evacuated more than 1,000 residents as a precaution. Vehicle access on SP 10 and SP 12 has been blocked to protect the public.

This morning, Drago 156, a helicopter from the Catania flight unit, conducted an aerial survey of the affected area to aid ongoing operations.

Fire crews continue to monitor the landslide while assisting residents in retrieving belongings from evacuated homes, ensuring safety and assessing potential further risks.
