Kanlaon Volcano Emits 800 Meter Ash Plume Affecting Nearby Towns

Kanlaon City, Philippines – The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology reported two ash emission events at Kanlaon Volcano on April 14, 2025.

The first ash emission began at 11:52 AM. It produced a large ash plume reaching 800 meters high from the summit crater. The ash drifted west-northwest of the volcano. Ashfall was expected in La Carlota City, Bago City, and other nearby areas.

This ash emission ended at 2:12 PM.

A second ash emission began at 2:53 PM. This event generated another voluminous ash plume rising 600 meters from the crater. The ash was again blown west-northwest.

Residents in surrounding towns were advised to remain alert for ashfall. Kanlaon Volcano remains under Alert Level 3.
