Jackknifed Semi Blocks Icy Highway As State Patrol Warns Of More Chaos

Moorhead, Minnesota – A video shared by the Minnesota State Patrol’s public information officer shows a nighttime incident on Interstate 94 eastbound at milepost 18, about 15 miles east of Moorhead in Clay County, recorded just before 7 a.m. on November 26, 2025.

The footage shows a jackknifed semi truck, likely pulling an empty trailer, blocking the roadway in extremely slippery conditions caused by snow and wind.

Emergency lights from several police vehicles and what appear to be tow trucks flash in the foreground, lighting up the snow covered highway and the nearby grassy median, where tire tracks are clearly visible.

The scene is dark and foggy, underlining the hazardous driving conditions. There were no reported injuries.

The post warns drivers to be ready for traffic delays and blockages due to similar jackknifes and crashes. Sgt. Jesse Grabow said roads in west central Minnesota are extremely slippery and that semis pulling empty trailers are struggling in the conditions, with crashes that can completely block traffic and leave drivers stopped on the wrong side of a closed road.
