Italian Firefighters Conduct Dramatic Rescues During Friuli Venezia Giulia Floods

Friuli Venezia Giulia, Italy – Video captures a rescue operation by the Vigili del Fuoco in the flood-hit region of Friuli Venezia Giulia on September 11, 2025.

Firefighters are seen navigating muddy floodwaters with a yellow inflatable boat, assisting a distressed person, likely among the 30 evacuees from a flooded camping site in Lignano Sabbiadoro. Some of those evacuated included newborns.

The emergency response came after a day of severe flooding, with major challenges reported in Grado, Sagrado, Ronchi dei Legionari, Staranzano, Turriaco, and Lignano Sabbiadoro.

Overall, the Vigili del Fuoco carried out around a hundred interventions between Udine and Gorizia. Conditions began to improve late on the evening of September 10, but the scale of the floods required coordinated efforts across multiple towns.
